Where To Begin
Creating and arranging a ceremony can take up a great deal of your time, so I am flexible, after all, I do this full time, so we can arrange to meet in my home office in St Clair, your home, your venue, a café, or any time & place of your choosing.
In our initial meeting, I will outline my services, how I can guide you through creating a ceremony of your choice covering:
- Helpful advice and ideas.
- options for readings, vows, poems, exchange of rings.
- options for included rituals, such as unity and candle ceremonies and more etc. (see samples below)
- Suggestions for music
- we will review and complete legal documents (see below)
- Easiest way is that you can start the legal paperwork by following this link to your Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) and the information will go straight to me for finalisation. Providing a complete form to me is your ‘lodgement’:

I work towards Marriage ceremonies which celebrate your individuality and choices, while carefully including the legal requirements needed for your wedding as prescribed by the Federal Attorney Generals Department and The Marriage Act.




Legal Requirements for Marriage

- Completion of the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) form with your celebrant, no earlier than one month prior to your wedding date, but not more than 18 months before the wedding date.(I like to add an extra day to give time to solve any discrepancies)
- You can start the legal paperwork by following this link Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) .
- You must be over 18 years of age.
- You will need to provide an original Birth Certificate or Passport as proof of date and place of birth
- You must provide photo ID such as a passport or drivers licence
- your Passport can serve as both proof of of date and place of birth as well as photo ID)
- If you are a divorced person, you will need to provide documentation of the termination of your previous marriage.
- If you are widowed, you will need to provide the Death Certificate of your previous spouse.
- On the day of your marriage you will need two witnesses, preferably who know you, who are over 18 years of age.
- All documents in a foreign language, must have a certified English translation when to be sighted by a Celebrant.
- Before the ceremony, couples are required to sign a Commonwealth Statutory Declaration of ‘No Legal Impediment’ to you being married.

- Being a celebrant is a special and important role in the community. It attracts obligations and legal responsibilities. Failure to meet those responsibilities can have serious consequences. As an authorised celebrant I must:
- solemnise marriages under the Marriage Act 1961 and Marriage Regulations 1963
- conduct myself in accordance with the Code of practice for marriage celebrants
- comply with your ongoing professional development obligations.
- Register marriages with the registry of births, deaths and marriages in the state or territory in which the marriage took place within fourteen days.
