  1. I noticed this too. And gay marriage has nothing to do with polygamy, so pretending like there is some sort of injustice because gay marriage is legal is ridiculous. It”s a false equivalence that undermines the validity of gay marriage. Marriage, as far as the government is concerned, means that the couple gets certain benefits taxes, healthcare, inheritance, etc. Allowing any two consenting adults (regardless of gender) to enter into a marriage makes sense and does not materially change who is entitled to these benefits or how those benefits are administered. Allowing men to marry as many women as they want and they ALL claim those benefits would be a nightmare. How would joint tax returns, probate, etc. even be handled if there were infinite wives all claiming equal rights? Where would the line be? The Browns” civil rights have it been violated at all. No one is stopping them from living together, but they are not all entitled to the same benefits as a married couple.
